MARIETTA, Ohio – The University of Chicago women's volleyball team concluded their season with a hard-fought 3-1 loss to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in the NCAA Regional Second Round on Friday evening at Ban Johnson Arena.

The Maroons (25-11) opened the match with momentum, claiming the first set 25-18 behind a .273 hitting percentage. Junior Diya Mishra led the offensive charge with a match-high 13 kills, hitting .267 on the evening, while Amelia Gibbs added eight kills at .316. Despite the strong start, the Titans (28-5) responded with three consecutive set victories (25-20, 25-16, 25-16).

Defensively, the Maroons showcased their grit, with Kennedy Cheung anchoring the team with 22 digs. Thalita Marangon contributed 16 digs and seven kills, while Grace Xu directed the offense with 20 assists.

The Titans' balanced attack, led by Robyn Kirsch and Sami Perlberg, combined for 24 kills. Their defensive effort stifled the Maroons, limiting UChicago to a .102 hitting percentage for the match and holding them under .100 in the final two sets.

"After the first set, they went to another level, and we had a hard time matching that," said Chicago head coach Mitchell McPartland. "Their attackers were hitting balls that were landing a foot in front of the line or on the line. So, a lot of credit to them for executing."

UChicago concludes an impressive season with 25 wins and a third-place finish in the UAA conference. "Ending on a loss always hurts, but we just talked about how proud we are of the season," McPartland said. "You want to end your season here in the NCAA Tournament."
