Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. - UChicago women's soccer claimed a dramatic 3-2 overtime victory over Messiah on Saturday afternoon at Francis Olympic Field. The Maroons showcased resilience and composure, sealing the match with a penalty kick in the extra period.

The Maroons' defensive line was pivotal in the first half, expertly neutralizing Messiah's attack and limiting them to just two shots, none on target. This defensive effort allowed UChicago to maintain control and enter the break with a 1-0 lead.

Livie Sabloff opened the scoring early, converting a penalty in the fourth minute to put the Maroons ahead. Early in the second half, Indira Naylor notched her 15th goal of the season with a stunning strike to the top-right corner in the 53rd minute, doubling UChicago's lead.
However, Messiah rallied with goals from Mia Libby in the 55th minute and Hannah Adair in the 64th, leveling the match at 2-2. Both sides pushed for a winner, but the scoreline held, forcing overtime.
In the extra period, Sabloff delivered once again. The sophomore calmly converted her second penalty of the game in the 92nd minute, securing the thrilling 3-2 victory. Goalkeeper Sophie Pilarski made a crucial save in the closing moments to help preserve the win.
With the victory, UChicago advances to the Elite Eight and will face conference foe and No. 1-ranked WashU Bears on Sunday, November 24, at 1:00 PM CST.
