Men's Soccer Falls to Emory

ATLANTA – University of Chicago men's soccer closed out their conference road games on Saturday afternoon in a battle against Emory University. In the close match, the Eagles were able to outscore the Maroons 4-2.

RESULT
Emory University – 4
UChicago – 2

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • University of Chicago fell to an early 0-2 score after Emory was able to net two within the first five minutes of the game. As time winded down in the first half, Sam Jiminez put the Maroons on the board to go into the half down by only one score.
  • Chicago out shot the Eagles 12-7 in that first half. The opponents also collected five saves as the Maroons kept applying offensive pressure. Finding opportunities to score wasn't the problem for Chicago, execution is where they struggled.
  • Just like the first, in the second half Emory scored two to extend their lead by three. Evan Kanellos found Jack Leuker for a Maroon goal down in the 88th minute, but Chicago's first half struggles caught up to them as the Eagles early scores were too much.
