Volleyball Completes Tough Weekend at Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – In another weekend of non- conference play, the University of Chicago volleyball team traveled to Wisconsin for a double header against two Top 25 teams on Saturday afternoon. In a series of tough offensive flows, the Maroons fell in both matches.

RESULTS
#6 Wis.-Oshkosh – 3 (25, 25, 25)
#18 UChicago – 0 (23, 14, 16)

#24 UW- Stevens Point – 3 (25, 25, 25)
#18 UChicago – 0 (18, 15, 17)

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • vs #6 Wis.-Oshkosh
    • Chicago struggled on the offensive side of the ball more than anything. Averaging right kills in a set, the usual Maroons offensive flow was hard to maintain with key breakaways from the Titans.
    • This was the first match all year where at least one Maroon didn't finish with double-digit kills.
    • Senior Maggie McInerney led Chicago with seven kills on 27 total attacks and nine digs. Maroons kill leader, Diya Mishra finished with four while Peyton Minyard tallied three.
  • vs #24 UW Stevens-Point
    • Chicago started the match with an early 9-7 lead in the first set. Though a few miscommunications on the receiving side allowed the Pointers to catch up and take a late lead over the Maroons. UWSP held a steady momentum throughout the match.
    • Sets two and three remained hard for UChicago as they continued to fight against the Pointers. In a rare occurrence, finding an offensive groove was the toughest part of the match.
    • Amelia Gibbs led Chicago with nine completed attacks on 13 kills for an almost perfect attack percentage of .462. Mishra collected eight while Talita Marangon finished with five. Nicole Martinez totaled 14 digs for Chicago's defense.

WHO'S ON DECK
Next up the Maroons will return to Chicago for a two-game homestand. They'll play Wednesday night, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. for their first game at Ratner since Sept. 25. First severe is set for 6 pm against Illinois Wesleyan University.
