CHICAGO – University of Chicago softball headed to North Park one more time this season for a single game against the Vikings on Wednesday. The Maroons established a lead in the fifth and got an insurance run in the seventh which played a huge part in allowing them to take the win in an extra innings battle against NPU.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- North Park (4-10) handed University of Chicago (11-6) a one run deficit with a tally off a second inning double, but the Maroons responded right back in the third when Audrey Hui singled to right field to bring home Madeline Murphy.
- Two more UChicago runs followed in the fifth, both of which were unearned thanks to a Vikings infield error. NPU pulled within one in the sixth with a sac fly but another Hiu RBI in the seventh seemed to give the Maroons the insurance run they needed to lock down the victory.
- However, North Park rallied in their last at bats. This time it was courtesy of a UC infield error which allowed the home squad to tie the game at 4-4 and send the contest into extra innings. Thankfully, the Maroons bats had the last laugh. An Alina Yazek single in the top of the ninth scored Hui to go up 5-4 and Paige Heffke struck out two of the last three batters to earn her fifth win of the season.

The Maroons will continue their time on the road when they head to Michigan for two doubleheader series. First up will be Calvin on Friday with the game one first pitch scheduled for 2:00 pm eastern.
