Women's Tennis Cruises By CWRU To Advance To Championship

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – University of Chicago women's tennis looked to take one more step towards another UAA title when they took on fourth seeded Case Western Reserve on Saturday. The Maroons had no problem dismissing a familiar foe in efficient fashion as they prepare for Championship Sunday as the top seed.

RESULT
No. 4 seed Case Western Reserve – 0
No. 1 seed UChicago – 5

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Top seeded University of Chicago (17-1) put a big dent in the five points they needed to dismiss fourth seed Case Western Reserve (14-5) and send the Spartans into the consolation bracket. The Maroons took all three matches to go up 3-0 against CWRU including an 8-1 win from Guo and Sylwia Mikos.
  • An seven point UChicago win against Case Western Reserve just a week ago gave them the confidence to keep moving forward in singles action and ended things as early as possible with wins from Pedersen and Guo in the last two slots in the Maroons 5-0 victory.
WHO'S ON DECK
The Maroons will take on second seeded Emory for the UAA title tomorrow morning. Doubles action will start the match as always beginning with an 8:30 am eastern first serve.
