#7 Women's Soccer Faces NYU in UAA Opener

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago women's soccer team will enter their first week of UAA play as they take on #25 NYU for the conference home opener on Saturday afternoon. The Maroons are looking to extend their unbeaten streak to 10 with a result against the Violets. * The Maroons enter the week with a 8-0-1 record on the season after extending their unbeaten streak to nine games with a 4-0 victory over John Carroll last weekend.
* The 8-0-1 start to the season is the longest unbeaten start to a year for a UChicago team since they started the 2021 season with a 10-0-2 record.
* The UAA has been outstanding in the non-conference this year with a 65-2-13 record and a goal differential of 253-32.
* UChicago will look to reach their 11th NCAA Tournament in the last 12 seasons with their lone miss since 2013 in 2022.
* Kate Bruntlett leads the team with five goals on the year, and after scoring in the first four games of the season, she became the first UChicago player to score in four consecutive games since Hanna Watkins in 2019.
* Kamiryn Braxton Grimes, Mary Stuart Kerrigan, and Karena Shah have each scored three goals on the season, and Shah leads the team with two game-winning goals.
* Ella Cho leads the team with 5 assists on the season after her two-assist performance in the 2-1 win over North Central.
* Amy Reifert has recorded 440 wins in her illustrious career. She sits 6th all-time in career Division III wins and 22nd all-time among all levels of the NCAA.
* Sophia Sasaki has been excellent in goal with a GAA of just 0.47 and 17 saves to go along with 4 clean sheets on the year.
* After opening UAA play on Saturday, the Maroons will return to their home pitch as they host the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks in their final non-conference showdown on Monday.

#25 NYU NOTES: 

* NYU enters UAA play this season with an 8-1-2 record on the year.
* The Violets have not lost a game away from home in 2025 with a 4-0-1 record.
* The Maroons will be the third top-25 team that the Violets have faced this season after taking down #20 TCNJ (4-2) and #23 Vassar (2-1).
* NYU are on an eight-game unbeaten streak after not losing a game during the entire month of September.
* Sophomore Marlee Scanlon leads the team with six goals on the year. She ranks 7th in the UAA in goals (6) and 8th in the UAA in points (13).
* Sydney Freese has been the top facilitator in the UAA this year with a league-high 7 assists.
* In goal, Mia Capo ranks 2nd in the UAA with 4 clean sheets for NYU.
* Following their match with the Maroons, NYU will return home on October 11 to take on #13 Rochester in their UAA home opener.

SERIES HISTORY:

* The Maroons hold an all-time 22-6 advantage over the Violets.
* NYU has won the last three meetings against UChicago with wins in 2022 (2-1), 2023 (4-2), and 2024 (2-0).
* Prior to their three-match losing streak, UChicago had won 17 of the last 18 games against NYU, outscoring their opponents 42-9.
* Ella Cho and McKenzie Toomey are the lone UChicago players to find the back of the net against NYU in their careers.
