CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago football team returns to action on Saturday, October 4, as they travel to Galesburg, Illinois for a Midwest Conference showdown with the Knox Prairie Fire.
UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:
* UChicago enters the weekend with an 2-1 record on the season and 2-0 in the MWC after picking up a big 24-21 win over (RV) Illinois College in their last game.
* October 4 marks the 56th anniversary of the return of UChicago football. After cutting football in 1939 and leaving the Big Ten in 1946, the Maroons returned to Stagg Field with a 6-0 loss to Wheaton (IL) on October 4, 1969.

Craig Knoche earned his first career win earlier this season with the 28-12 victory over the Cornell (IA) Rams.
* UChicago holds a 13-4 advantage all-time against Knox College, and the Maroons are currently riding a six-game winning streak against the Prairie Fire.

Walter Kilgore earned D3football.com Team of the Week honors for his kicking performance in the win over (RV) Illinois College after drilling a 50-yard field goal to end the first half.
* The UChicago defense has been excellent through the first two games of the season, holding their opponents to 21 points or fewer. This is the third time in the past 5 seasons they have allowed 21 points or fewer in their first 3 games.
* The last win for UChicago saw the Maroons employ a quarterback-by-committee strategy with
Jack Ruff and
Max Ruff. With each brother throwing a touchdown pass in the win, it is the first time in recorded UChicago history that a pair of brothers have thrown a touchdown in the same game.

Morrison Giggetts provided a spark for the Maroons with an 89-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against the Blueboys.
* Following their clash with Knox, UChicago will return to Stagg Field to battle Lawrence on October 11.
KNOX COLLEGE NOTES:Â
* Knox College enters the weekend at 1-2 overall and 1-1 in Midwest Conference play after picking up a 16-14 win over Beloit.
* The Prairie Fire trailed the Buccaneers 14-7 before scoring the final 9 points of the game with a 1-yard touchdownrun by Taylor McAdams and a game-winning 21-yard field goal by Fernando Torres.
* McAdams leads the rushing attack for Knox with 261 yards on 56 carries this season.
* The Prairie Fire are entirely ground-heavy on the offensive side with 48 carries per game compared to just 13 pass attempts per game.
* Mario Byrd has been the top receiver for Knox with 6 catches for 75 yards and the lone receiving touchdown for the team.
* On defense, Chase Caldwell leads the team up front with 24 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, and 2.0 sacks.
* Colin Finnigsmier has broken up a team-high 4 passes and recorded one of the team's two interceptions.
* Following their game with UChicago, Knox will return to their home field to take on Grinnell for their Homecoming game on October 11.
SERIES HISTORY:
* The University of Chicago leads the all-time series 13-4 over Knox College.
* The Maroons have won six consecutive games dating back to 1985, including a 27-13 victory in 2024.
* The last win in the series for the Prairie Fire came in 1984 when they took down the Maroons 20-17.
* UChicago was a perfect 6-0 from 1898 to 1932 against Knox, outscoring their opponents 109-0.
