Eifert and Parker Enter Record Books as Men's Cross Country Takes First at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The University of Chicago men's cross country took home their third consecutive first-place finish of the season on Friday morning after defeating 15 Division I programs and several more Division II programs at Notre Dame.

Liam Eifert started off the race strong, and he remained in the top-5 for the entire race from the 1-mile mark and beyond. He stuck with the lead pack, and he brought home a third-place finish with the 5th-fastest time in UChicago cross country history at 24:26.8.

Freshman Evan Parker also ran his way into the UChicago record book as his time of 24:50.2 is the 4th-fastest time by a freshman and the 21st-fastest time ever in UChicago cross country history. Parker would place top-20 with an 18th-place finish.

Three more Maroons rounded out the scoring with top-40 finishes including Noah Bender (25:02.3), Grant Musick (25:08.5), and Isaac Cohen (25:09.6). Musick and Cohen were also joined by Andrew Valentino (25:49.5) with collegiate best times in the race.

The University of Chicago will return to action on Saturday, October 4, as they travel to Augustana (IL) for the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational to wrap up their split-squad weekend.
