Men's Soccer Travels to Pittsburgh for UAA Showdown with Carnegie Mellon

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago men's soccer team hits the road for the first time in UAA play as it travels to Pittsburgh to battle Carnegie Mellon. * The Maroons enter the weekend with a 7-1-3 record overall and a 1-0 record in UAA play, and they are riding a five-match winning streak with win over #17 UW-Eau Claire (4-2), Albion (5-0), Kalamazoo (2-0), Carthage (3-0), and NYU (4-0).
* UChicago is riding an 10-game unbeaten streak, tied for the 6th-longest streak in program history. The Maroons have outscored opponents 22-3 in that stretch, and they have scored 18 goals without allowing a goal in the past 441 minutes.
* The 4-0 win over NYU on Saturday is the biggest win in a UAA match since their 4-0 win over Carnegie Mellon in 2022.
* Evan Kanellos leads the Maroons in goals this season with four penalty kick goals and two game-winning goals. He is one of only four players in the country to have four penalty kick goals in 2025.
* Ali Alamery made 10 saves en route to his first career clean sheet in the 0-0 draw with St. Olaf. His 10 saves are the most by a UChicago goalkeeper since 2012.
* Alamery also became the first UChicago goalkeeper since Will Boyes in 2022 to record four consecutive clean sheets.
* Alamery leads the UAA with 29 saves. He also ranks 3rd in NCAA Division III and 2nd in the UAA with six clean sheets on the season.
* Edward Wu recorded a brace in the win over NYU with two goals in a 19-second span, the quickest brace in UChicago program history.
* After Saturday's UAA opener, the Maroons will take a week off before traveling to Pittsburgh to battle Carnegie Mellon.

CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY NOTES: 

* Carnegie Mellon enters the weekend 7-1-4 overall and 0-0-1 in UAA play.
* The Tartans started the year 6-0-3 before suffering a 4-1 defeat to Salisbury on September 27.
* In their UAA opener, Carnegie Mellon played #2 Emory to a 1-1 draw, handing the Eagles their first draw or loss of the season.
* Idan Garten has been the top attacker for the Tartans this season, ranking 3rd in the UAA in goals per game with 0.80 and 4th in the UAA in points per game with 1.60.
* Tristan Gonzalez ranks top-5 in the UAA with 4 assists on the year.
* Kai Yamamoto has performed well in goal with 27 saves, 4 clean sheets, and a GAA of 0.87.
* Following their UAA matchup with the Maroons, the Violets will return to the road for a battle with #7 WashU on Sunday, October 19.

SERIES HISTORY:

* Carnegie Mellon leads the all-time series 19-11-7 over UChicago.
* The Maroons and Tartans played to a 1-1 draw in Chicago last season, despite UChicago outshooting their opponent 23-6.
