CHICAGO -- The 3rd-ranked University of Chicago men's soccer team earned the #8 overall seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament and opens its title run on Saturday afternoon with a match against the DePauw University Tigers at 1 PM in Whitewater, Wisconsin.
*Â The Maroons enter the NCAA Tournament as the #8 overall seed after finishing the regular season with an 11-2-5 record.
*Â The Whitewater Regional features #8 seed UChicago, #10 seed WashU, #27 seed UW-Whitewater, and #35 seed DePauw and ranks as the toughest regional in the entire NCAA DIII Tournament field with an average seed of 20.
*Â UChicago returns to the NCAA Tournament after having its nine-year streak snapped in 2024. The Maroons have an all-time record of 25-9-7 in their 14 tournament appearances.
*Â The Maroons have reached the Quarterfinals in each of their last three NCAA Tournament berths, including a Final Four appearance in 2021 and a National Championship in 2022.
*Â UChicago had its 16-game unbeaten streak snapped in their 1-0 loss to #12 WashU in the regular season finale. The 16-game streak ranked as the fourth-longest in program history.
*Â The Maroons have had multiple 500-minute shutout streaks this season, ranking as two of the six best in program history.

Edward Wu was the lone 1st-Team All-UAA selection for the Maroons, and he leads the team with five goals, five assists, and 15 points this season. He scored the first goal and assisted on the game-winning goal in the 3-2 win over #13 Brandeis.
*Â Wu became the first player in 2024 to score in three consecutive matches after his olimpico against North Park.

Max Weene also earned 2nd-Team All-UAA honors for UChicago.

Ali Alamery has been excellent this season with 59 saves and only 12 goals allowed with a GAA of 0.68 and 8 clean sheets.
*Â Alamery made 10 saves in a 0-0 draw with St. Olaf earlier this season, the most by a UChicago goalkeeper since 2012.
* With a win, the Maroons will advance to play the winner of #12 WashU and UW-Whitewater in the second round on Sunday at 3 PM CT.
DEPAUW UNIVERSITY NOTES:Â
* DePauw enters the weekend with a 12-2-5 record overall after winning the NCAC regular season and tournament championships.
* The Tigers are unbeaten in their past 10 games with a 7-0-3 record in October and November.
* DePauw's two losses this season have both come to top-25 teams with a 3-0 loss to #20 Colorado College and a 3-1 loss to #23 Calvin.
* The Tigers also picked up a pair of top-25 wins this season with a 1-0 win over #2 Denison and a 3-1 win over #25 Denison in the NCAC Championship.
* Sebastian Leon leads the Tigers with 6 goals and 15 points on the year.
* Sam Ortner has been excellent in goal for DePauw with 50 saves and 7 clean sheets and only 1.09 goals allowed per game.
* The Tigers are making their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance after falling 2-0 to Hope in the opening round in 2024.
* DePauw is looking for their first NCAA Tournament victory since 2016 when the Tigers took down Centre 3-2.

Patrick Lin are the only active players who have played against the Tigers. Walsh scored the game-winning goal as a freshman against DePauw in the 2022 meeting.
