Volleyball Travels to Brandeis for 2025 UAA Tournament

CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago women's volleyball team will open its postseason run on Saturday with the 2025 UAA Tournament. The Maroons earned the #1 overall seed after winning the outright UAA title with a 6-1 record in league play.

UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:

* UChicago enters the weekend with a 14-12 overall record and having won five of its last six games.
* The Maroons finished the UAA regular season 6-1 overall to win the regular season title outright and earn the #1 overall seed in the UAA Tournament. The regular season title is the fifth in program history and the first since 2019 for UChicago.
* UChicago has won 27 consecutive matches against Rochester.
* UChicago has played nine top-25 teams this season. They have compiled a 4-5 record in those contests with three of those four wins coming against top-10 teams.
* The most recent ranked win over #25 Carnegie Mellon gives Coach McPartland 17 ranked wins throughout his tenure. This ranks as the second-most by any coach in program history.
Diya Mishra became the 13th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career kills earlier this season. She sits at 1,131 for her career, which ranks ninth in school history.
* Earlier this season, Mishra became the first player since Maggie McInerney in 2023 to record 20+ kills and 15+ digs in a single match. Mishra recorded 21 kills and 17 digs in the five-set win over #8 Hope College.
Gabi Spellings and Mishra were named the UAA Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week after the second UAA Round Robin. In the win over Emory, Spellings recorded a season-high nine blocks at the net. Over that weekend, Mishra had 29 kills with a .279 hitting percentage.
Hillary Cheung has had an excellent fourth season with the Maroons as she leads the team with 5.13 assists per set, 36 service aces, 0.43 service aces per set, and a 0.955 receiving %.
Olivia Zamis has had an excellent freshman season in the middle with a team-high 14 solo blocks and 81 total blocks.
* Following their matches on Saturday, the Maroons will return to the court for their final match of the tournament on Sunday with the time to be determined based on the results on Saturday.

ROCHESTER NOTES: 

* Rochester enters the weekend 4-20 on the season and 0-7 in the University Athletic Association.
* The Yellowjackets have lost four consecutive matches with their last win coming over RIT on October 18.
* Rylee Bergeron leads the team with 247 kills on the year.
* Lydia Weeks has added a team-high 34 service aces and 338 digs for the Yellowjackets.
* Sancia Williams leads Rochester with 28 blocks on the season.

SERIES HISTORY:

* UChicago holds an all-time record of 42-7 against Rochester.
* The Maroons have won 27 consecutive meetings against Rochester, and they have not dropped a set in the past eight meetings.
* Diya Mishra led the team with 14 kills and four service aces in the 3-0 win earlier this season.
