CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago men's basketball team will head to Madison, Wisconsin, for a weekend matchup against Edgewood. The Maroons are looking to bounce back after a tough loss at #16 Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday night.
#11 UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:
* #11 UChicago enters the weekend non-conference showdown with a 2-1 record on the season.
* UChicago opened the season with a Midway Classic sweep of UC Santa Cruz and (RV) Trinity (TX) last weekend. In the win over the Tigers, the Maroons broke the single-game school record with 18 made threes on 40 attempts.

Eamonn Kenah earned UAA Player of the Week and D3hoops.com Team of the Week honors after a dominating weekend. The senior averaged 21.5 points per game on 11-17 shooting from three for a 65% clip from deep.
* Kenah is the first UChicago player to be named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week since the 2011-12 season.
* The Maroons open the season ranked as the #11 team in the country by d3hoops.com. This is the highest ranking by UChicago since being ranked #11 in 2016, and it is the highest preseason ranking since the team was #3 entering 2001-02.
* UChicago added a pair of Preseason All-Americans in the transfer portal during the offseason.
Shane Regan earned 1st-Team Preseason All-American honors after averaging 18.0 points/game at Wesleyan (CT) last season.
Nick Roper was named a 2nd-Team Preseason All-American after earning 2nd-Team Academic All-American honors at Illinois Wesleyan.

Phillip Lawrence excelled off the bench for the Maroons in Sunday's win over the Tigers with a career-high 17 points.

Joe Berry has been impressive in the first three games for UChicago with a pair of all-around stat-stuffing performances. The senior is averaging 7.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists.

Mike McGrath has compiled a career record of 361-261, and he ranks top-50 in NCAA DIII in active wins.
* After Saturday's game, the Maroons will head to the All-Academic Classic hosted by WashU for a two-game series. The team will take on Rhodes on Saturday and Colorado College on Sunday.
EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY NOTES:
* Edgewood enters the weekend with a 0-2 record overall.
* The Eagles are also looking to bounce back after suffering a close loss at UW-Stevens Point last Saturday.
* Matt Kirk leads the team in scoring with an average of 15.5 points per game. The junior is shooting over 50% from the field and 33.3% from the three. In his last game at UW Stevens Point, Kirk dropped 22 points, going 8 for 12 from field goal range.
* The Eagles are shooting 44.1% from the floor, but have allowed their opponents to shoot 44.5%. In addition, their opponents have shot 33 more free throws as well.
* Following their matchup with the Maroons, the Eagles will host UW-Oshkosh on Tuesday night.
SERIES HISTORY:
* UChicago leads the all-time series 5-3 over Edgewood.
* The Maroons will look for their third-ever win in Madison with the previous two coming in 2005 and 2023.
* UChicago has won three consecutive games against the Eagles, including a 77-57 win in 2024.

Joe Berry led all scorers with 18 points four assists and four rebounds.
Luke Smith recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
