Women’s Basketball Hosts Rose-Hulman in Saturday Matinee

CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago women's basketball team will host Rose-Hulman this Saturday at 2 PM. The Maroons are coming off an undefeated 2-0 weekend at the Midway Classic.

UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:

* UChicago comes into the weekend with a 3-1 record overall after defeating Marian (WI) and Tufts at the Midway Classic.
* The Maroons picked up their biggest win program history on Saturday with an 84-29 win over the Marian (WI) Sabres.
* The lone loss for UChicago came in overtime to #3 UW-Oshkosh in the St. Norbert Tip-Off Invitational.
* The Maroons won 15 games last year in the first season under head coach Michelle Gardner-Bilek are tied for the second-most wins by a first-year coach in program history.
Annabelle Spotts earned All-Tournament team honors in the opening weekend with 13.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
Chris Sanders leads all scorers this season with 11.5 points per game and seven made threes through the first 4 games.
Bri Simpson joins Sanders and Spotts in double figures with 10.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Kasi Samuda tallied a team-high 15 rebounds in the loss to UW-Oshkosh. She became the first player since 2023 to grab 15 rebounds in a single game for the Maroons.
* The Maroons brought in four freshmen in 2025 with two from California, one from Maryland, and one from Wisconsin.
Karen Xin and Ruiqi Liu join the UChicago program after being teammates for the past four years at the Menlo School just south of San Francisco, California
* Following their non-conference matchup with Rose-Hulman, the Maroons will travel to Carroll (WI) on Tuesday, November 25.

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:

* Rose-Hulman enters the weekend with a 0-5 record overall.
* The Fightin' Engineers are coming off a tough weekend at the WashU Tournament, dropping both their games against Elmhurst and Benedictine.
* Sophomore Katelyn Fennell has been the leader for the team, averaging 11.6 points per game. Fennell is shooting 43.1% from the field through the Fightin' Engineers' first five games. She is also a perfect 7-7 from the free-throw line.
* Freshman Kaia Peterson is coming off a 17-point performance against Benedictine (IL).
* Following their game at UChicago, the Fightin' Engineers will take a week off before heading to North Manchester, Indiana, to open their conference season against the Manchester Spartans.

SERIES HISTORY:

* The Maroons and the Fightin' Engineers are tied 2-2 in the all-time series.
* UChicago picked up a 74-53 win over Rose-Hulman in their last meeting in 2019.
* The Maroons are also 1-1 at home in their games against the Fightin' Engineers.
