WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The Uniersity of Chicago women's basketball team dropped their second game to a top-25 opponent this season with a 74-53 loss at #24 Carroll (WI) on Tuesday night.

Carthage jumped out to a quick 8-4 lead, but UChicago used a layup by Kate Gross and a three by Bri Simpson to take the 9-8 lead with 5:42 remaining. However, this would be their final lead of the game as the Pioneers would close out the quarter on a 12-2 run to take a 20-11 lead at the end of the first.

The game was all Carroll from that point on as the team would lead by as many as 28 points before closing out the victory as the Pioneers shot over 50% from the floor.

Bri Simpson led the team with 12 points off the bench, and Chris Sanders added 11 points. Inside, Annabelle Spotts tallied 8 points and 9 rebounds, while Kasi Samuda added 7 points and 7 boards.

With the loss, the Marooons fall to 4-2 on the season. UChicago will return to action this weekend when the team returns to its home gym for a Saturday matinee with Elmhurst.
