KANSAS CITY -- University of Chicago sophomore midfielder
Edward Wu was named a 4th-Team All-American, as announced by the United Soccer Coaches on Thursday morning.
Wu followed up his 1st-Team All-UAA and 1st-Team All-Region selection by becoming just the tenth player in University of Chicago men's soccer history to earn All-American honors from the United Soccer Coaches. Wu was one of the top 8s in the University Athletic Associaiton this season, and he led the Maroons with five goals, five assists, and 15 points this season.
The Cary, North Carolina native started 19 of the team's 20 games this season, and he played nearly 1,300 minutes in the midfield. Through two seasons, the computer science and statistics double major has tallied career totals of nine goals and seven assists for 25 total points and four game-winning goals.
Wu's All-American selection marks the eighth time in the past nine seasons that the Maroons have had an All-American, dating back to 2016.
The University of Chicago men's soccer team capped off the season with a 12-3-5 record overall and a 4-1-2 record in the UAA, culminating with a second-place finish in the association. The team earned a top-8 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2022, and they reached the second round of the tournament for the tenth time in the past 11 seasons.
