CHICAGO - The University of Chicago men's basketball team came up just short in a thrilling contest against Emory on Friday night, falling 77-72 at the Gerald Ratner Athletics Center. Despite a strong second-half push, the Maroons dropped to 16-7 overall and 7-5 in UAA play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• UChicago entered the game with momentum after a series of solid performances, but Emory's offensive firepower was evident early, though they only lead 46-41 at the half.
• Despite this, the Maroons hung tough, with standout performances from Thomas Kurowski (15 points) and Daniel Cochran (14 points), both of whom contributed consistently throughout the contest.
• The Maroons started the second half strong, limiting Emory's shooting while finding success from long range thelong-rangemselves. A trio of three-pointers by Eamonn Kenah kept the game within reach, but Emory's defense tightened as the game wore on.
• With the game hanging in the balance late, the Maroons showed resolve, cutting the lead to five points in the final minute, but Emory capitalized on late free throws to keep the game in their control.
