No. 2 UChicago Defeats No. 19 Kenyon

INDIANAPOLIS – The top-ranked University of Chicago women's tennis team continued its dominant start to the season, defeating No. 19 Kenyon College 6-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Maroons controlled the match from the outset, sweeping doubles play before securing five of six singles victories.
 
Doubles Sweep Sets the Tone
UChicago came out strong in doubles, winning all three matchups to secure the opening point. Oliwia Mikos and Sylwia Mikos, the No. 4-ranked doubles pair in the nation, led the charge with a 6-3 victory at No. 1. Shianna Guo and Isabelle Chong followed with a 6-4 win at No. 2, while Charlotte Klein and Serena Biria completed the sweep with a commanding 6-1 victory at No. 3.
 
Singles Strength Seals the Win
The Maroons carried their momentum into singles, where they claimed victories in five of six matches. Serena Biria was dominant at No. 3, rolling to a 6-2, 6-1 win. Chong (No. 4) and Oliwia Mikos (No. 5) followed with near-perfect performances, dropping just three combined games en route to straight-set wins.
 
At No. 2 singles, Clara Zou outlasted her opponent in a tight battle, winning 7-5, 7-6 (10-5). Miranda Yuan added another win for the Maroons at No. 6, prevailing in a super tiebreak 6-3, 5-7, 10-6.
 
No. 1 singles, Sylwia Mikos battled through a hard-fought three-set showdown. After taking the opening set, Mikos faced a strong response from Kenyon's Eleni Lazaridou and ultimately fell in a razor-thin 2-6, 6-3, 11-9 decision.
