Track and Field Shines on Day One of UAA Track & Field Championships

CHICAGO – The University of Chicago track and field teams delivered standout performances on the opening day of the UAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, highlighted by Ren Brown's record-setting efforts and multiple event wins at the Henry Crown Field House on the campus of the University of Chicago. 

The Maroons made an impact across sprints, distance, jumps, and relays, setting the stage for an exciting final day of competition. 

Ren Brown's Dominant Performance 

  • Ren Brown was a force on Day 1, setting a UAA record, facility record, and NCAA Division III-leading time in the 60m hurdles with an 8.54 in prelims. 

  • She also qualified first in the 400m, clocking an NCAA-standard 56.36, putting her in prime position for the finals. 

Track Highlights 

  • Sanju Patel took third place in the men's 5000m with a 14:57.80, securing six points. 
     

Field Highlights 

  • Aryan Shrivastava won the men's high jump with a 2.04m (6-08.25) clearance, while Imran Serifovic finished second (1.99m, 6-06.25). 
     

  • In the men's long jump, Seyi Kadiri placed third (6.78m, 22-03.00), while Jackson Giampa secured fourth (6.72m, 22-00.75). 
     

  • Simon Dixon won the men's weight throw with a 16.75m (54-11.50) mark, securing another 10 points for UChicago. 
     

 
 

With a great first day, UChicago enters Day 2 of the UAA Indoor Championships with strong momentum and several key athletes poised for championship performances.
