CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago baseball team opens UAA play this weekend as they travel to Massachusetts to take on the Brandeis Judges in a four-game series. The Maroons will open the series on Friday with a doubleheader at 3 PM ET and 6 PM ET before battling the Judges in the final games of the season at 1 PM ET on Saturday and 11 AM ET on Sunday.

(RV) UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:

* The University of Chicago sits at 12-5 overall this season after dropping their mid-week contest to North Central (IL) 3-2.
* The Maroons finished their Florida swing with a 3-1 record, outscoring their opponents 55-20.
* Jackson Slipock earned UAA Hitter of the Week honors last week after he slashed 0.471 / 0.545 / 0,.647 in their four games in Florida. He finished the week going 8-17 at the plate with 3 doubles. 7 runs scored, and 7 RBIs.
* On the season, Braden Jirovec leads the team with a 0.362 batting average, 25 hits, and 23 runs scored.
* Jack Sharp has also been hitting off-the-charts for the Maroons this season with an OPS of 1.038. He has 19 hits with 8 for extra-bases, 19 RBIs, and a team-high 3 home runs.
* Hayden Leiderman has been lights out on the mound this season for the Maroons with a 1.40 ERA and a 0.78 WHIP in his first five starts of the season. Leiderman is boasting a 5.75 K/BB ratio with just four runs allowed in five games.
* Drew Bryan became the second UChicago player in school history to reach 200 career strikeouts on the mound in the loss to Eastern Connecticut State on March 19. Bryan sits at 209 strikeouts for his career, 87 away from the school record.
* Charlie Hahn and David Flanagan are the lone two relievers to not allow an earned run so far this season. The duo have combined to pitch 8.2 innings in 8 appearances with just 4 hits allowed and 12 total strikeouts.
* Following their weekend series with Brandeis, the Maroons will return to their home field for the first time this season as they host Illinois Tech on Tuesday, April 1.

BRANDEIS NOTES:

* Brandeis comes in at 8-10 overall and 0-0 in the UAA this season.
* The Judges have dropped back-to-back games to Wheaton (MA) and Lasell.
* Eddie Zanor leads the team with a .324 batting average and a .965 OPS. He has also added a team-high 23 hits, 11 extra-base hits, and 20 RBIs.
* Danny Tambascia and Ben Kuja join Zanor in hitting over .300 this season.
* Andrew Tringe leads the team with a 3.05 ERA and 25 strikeouts in his four starts for the Judges.
* Following the four-game series with UChicago, the Judges will hit the road for the first time in UAA play with a four-game series at NYU next weekend.

SERIES HISTORY:

* This will be the first all-time meeting on the diamond between the Maroons and the Judges.
