ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- University of Chicago senior pitcher
Drew Bryan has been named the UAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week after helping to lead the Maroons to a four-game sweep of Brandeis in their first UAA series since 1997.
Bryan was lights out in his UAA season debut as he pitched seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts in the opening games of the series against Brandeis.
He allowed just 2 hits and 2 walks en route to the win on the hill to help lead the Maroons to their first UAA win in 28 years in their first conference series of the season.
The Pitcher of the Week award is the first of the season for the Maroons, and he joins Slipock as the only other UChicago player to earn Athlete of the Week honors this season.
Bryan and the rest of the UChicago baseball team return to action this week as they host Illinois Tech on April 1 and WashU for a four-game series from April 4-6 in the first five home games of the season for the Maroons.
