Alfaro and North Earn UAA Women's Basketball Honors

3/5/2025 3:06:00 PM

ROCHESTER, N.Y.  – The UAA announced their selections for the 2024-2025 UAA Women's All-Association Basketball Team on Wednesday afternoon, as Bella Alfaro and Sophia North were both named to the second team. Both seniors for the Maroons were recognized for their hard work and standout performances throughout the year.

Bella Alfaro was a rock for the team, starting and playing in all 25 games in her best season as a Maroon. She averaged 10.2 points per game, racking up a total of 255 points over the course of the season. But it wasn't just her scoring that stood out—she also dished out 2.1 assists per game, finishing the season with a season-high 52 assists. Alfaro's leadership on the court was evident in every game, and her consistent play helped keep her team competitive all season long.

Sophia North also had an incredible year and for the second year in a row was honored by the UAA. Like Alfaro, she started and played in all 25 games, and she finished the season averaging 11.4 points per game, totaling 286 points on the year. One of her best performances came against Middlebury, where she dropped 24 points, going 10-15 from the field and 4-6 from three-point range. North's ability to score in so many ways made her a constant threat, and her play was crucial for the team's success.

"We are so excited about this honor for Bella and Sophia" stated head coach Michelle Gardner-Bilek. "They were incredible leaders for our team, while also putting together great seasons on the floor. Their impact is immense and will be felt for a long time. We appreciate everything they have given to this program and are so proud of them for earning this recognition!"

The Maroons finished the 2024-25 season with a 15-10 record continuing their streak of over .500 wins in a season.
