CHICAGO, Ill. -- The 21st-ranked University of Chicago baseball team hosts #24 Case Western Reserve this weekend for a four-game series between the top two teams in the UAA this season. This weekend will mark the first games played as a top-25 team in UChicago history.

#21 UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:

* The University of Chicago sits at 20-6 overall and 7-1 in the UAA this season after taking three of four with WashU at J. Kyle Anderson Field last weekend.
* The Maroons won a pair of one-run games and a two-run game over the weekend as their pitching propelled them past the Bears.
* UChicago is ranked #21 in NCAA DIII in the D3baseball.com poll. It is the first time in program history that they have been ranked in the top-25.
* Drew Bryan was named the UAA Pitcher of the Week two weeks ago after he pitched seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts and just four base runners allowed in the win over Brandeis. He currently sits at 227 career strikeouts which ranks 2nd all-time in UChicago history, just 69 away from the school record.
* Jackson Slipock earned UAA Hitter of the Week honors earlier this season after he slashed 0.471 / 0.545 / 0,.647 in their four games in Florida. He finished the week going 8-17 at the plate with 3 doubles. 7 runs scored, and 7 RBIs.
* On the season, Braden Jirovec leads the team with a 0.352 batting average, 38 hits, and 34 runs scored.
* Michael Gladden and Erik Rindner have also added 30 hits with Gladden leading the team 12 extra-base hits.
* Hayden Leiderman has been lights out on the mound this season for the Maroons with a 3.00 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP in his first seven starts of the season. Leiderman is boasting a 4.71 K/BB ratio in six games.
* Charlie Hahn, Kirk Waller, and Matthew Richert have dominated opponents in relief this season. The trio has combined for just three earned runs allowed in 28.2 innings pitched while striking out 33 batters and boasting a 0.54 ERA and 0.94 WHIP combined.
* Following their four-game series with the Spartans, the Maroons will return to the road for their final road UAA series of the year at (RV) Emory.

#24 CASE WESTERN RESERVE NOTES:

* Case Western Reserve enters the weekend at 
* The Spartans have picked up back-to-back series wins over WashU and Emory, winning the first three games in both series.
* Nick Harms leads the offense for Case Western with a 0.426 batting average and a 1.324 OPS. He has talleid 43 hits, 35 RBIs, 19 extra-base hits, and 8 home runs for the Spartans.
* Dane Camphausen joins Harms with an OPS over 1.000 this season. He has tallied seven home runs and a .675 OPS on the year.
* On the mound, Archer Stankowski has been the top arm for the Spartans with a 4-0 record and a 4.25 ERA.
* The enter Case Western staff has struck out 225 batters in 223 innings this season.
* Following the weekend series with #21 UChicago, the Spartans will return to their home field to host the NYU Violets from April 18-20.

SERIES HISTORY:

* UChicago trails the all-time series 16-18-1 against Case Western Reserve.
* The Maroons have dropped five straight games to the Spartans including a four-game series last season.
* This will mark the first time that UChicago and Case Western will meet at J. Kyle Anderson Field since 2009.
