CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago women's tennis team picked up another commanding win on Friday night as they took down Holy Cross (IN) for a 6-1 victory at the XS Tennis Center.

The Maroons took the opening point of the match in doubles with wins at the #1 and #3 doubles positions. Charlotte Klein and Oliwia Mikos combined to roll to a 6-2 victory at the top spot, and Nika Vesely and Sarena Biria picked up a 6-1 win at #3 to seal the point.

In singles play, the bottom of the UChicago lineup shot out of a cannon and dominated their matches early on. Oliwia Mikos picked up a bagel victory in just 44 minutes at #6 singles to double the lead to 2-0. Not long after, the Maroons sealed the victory with wins at #4 and #5 singles as Clara Zou won 6-2, 6-0 and Brooke Pedersen won 6-1, 6-2.

Isabelle Chong and Sarena Biria continued the UChicago success in the match with mirrored score victories as Chong won 6-2, 6-4 at #3 singles and Biria won 6-4, 6-2 at #2 singles. In the top singles spot, Nicole Geller battled back after losing the first set, but she came up short with a 10-7 defeat in the third-set tiebreaker.

With the win, the Maroons improve to 15-1 on the season and 5-0 on their home courts. The team returns to action on Saturday for their penultimate match of the 2024-25 regular season as they host #14 WashU at 1 PM CT at the Stagg Tennis Courts.
