#1 Women's Tennis Blanks UW-Whitewater, 7–0

CHICAGO - The top-ranked University of Chicago women's tennis team showed why it's the nation's No. 1 with a commanding 7–0 sweep over UW-Whitewater on Saturday afternoon at the XS Tennis Center. With the victory, UChicago improved to 17–1 on the season, while UW-Whitewater dropped to 12–8.

The Maroons wasted no time asserting control, sweeping all three doubles matches to take the early 1–0 lead. The No. 2 pair of Shianna Guo and Lauren Khou were first off the court with a dominant 6–1 win, followed closely by Erica Ekstrand and Sylwia Mikos at No. 3 (6–1). At the top spot, Charlotte Klein and Oliwia Mikos sealed the doubles point with a 6–2 victory.

UChicago continued its dominance in singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Miranda Yuan kicked off singles action with a flawless 6–0, 6–0 performance at No. 6, followed by Sylwia Mikos (6–1, 6–1) at No. 2 and Oliwia Mikos (6–2, 6–1) at No. 5.

Nicole Geller delivered a strong showing at No. 3 with a 6–3, 6–1 win, while Erica Ekstrand, ranked No. 4 nationally, took care of business at No. 1 singles with a 6–3, 6–2 win.. In the final match of the day, Shianna Guo completed the sweep with a hard-fought 7–6(5), 6–0 victory at No. 4.

UChicago remains undefeated at home and continues to build momentum heading into postseason play.
