GAME NOTES

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago baseball team hosts WashU this weekend for their first UAA home series in program history. The Maroons left the UAA in 1997, and prior to that, every UAA contest was played at a neutral site in Florida.

(RV) UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:

* The University of Chicago sits at 17-5 overall and 4-0 in the UAA this season after sweeping Brandeis in their first UAA series since 1997.
* The Maroons outscored Brandeis 43-9 in the series with a pair of run-rule victories in the final two games.
* Drew Bryan was named the UAA Pitcher of the Week after he pitched seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts and just four base runners allowed in the win over Brandeis. He currently sits at 218 career strikeouts which ranks 2nd all-time in UChicago history, just 78 away from the school record.
* Jackson Slipock earned UAA Hitter of the Week honors two weeks ago after he slashed 0.471 / 0.545 / 0,.647 in their four games in Florida. He finished the week going 8-17 at the plate with 3 doubles. 7 runs scored, and 7 RBIs.
* On the season, Braden Jirovec leads the team with a 0.380 batting average, 35 hits, and 33 runs scored.
* Erik Rinder has added a team-high .950 OPS this season with a .346 batting average and 7 extra-base hits.
* Hayden Leiderman has been lights out on the mound this season for the Maroons with a 2.97 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP in his first six starts of the season. Leiderman is boasting a 4.33 K/BB ratio in six games.
* Charlie Hahn and Kirk Waller have dominated opponents in relief this season. The duo has combined for just one earned run in 16.2 innings pitched while striking out 18 batters and boasting a 0.54 ERA and 0.36 WHIP combined.
* Following their four-game series with the Bears, the Maroons will return to their home field for another four-game UAA series against (RV) Case Western Reserve.

(RV) WASHU NOTES:

* WashU enters the weekend at 14-8 overall and 1-3 in UAA play.
* The Bears dropped three of four to Case Western Reserve in their opening series of UAA play last weekend.
* Noah Reichman leads the team at the plate with a 0.397 batting average and a 1.234 OPS. He has added 9 doubles and 6 home runs to go along with his 31 hits.
* Ryan Soong and Braden Mazone join Reichman with on-base percentages over 0.400.
* Townsend Stevenson has been the stop starter for the Bears with a 2.67 ERA and 43 strikeouts through his first six starts of the season.
* Hank Weiss has also pitched great on the hill for WashU with a 1.42 ERA in 25.1 innings. He has also struck out 38 batters in his seven appearances and two starts.
* Following this weekend series with UChicago, the Bears will hit the road and travel to New York to battle the Violets from April 11-13.

SERIES HISTORY:

* UChicago trails the all-time series 7-6 against the WashU Bears.
* The Maroons have dropped four consecutive games to WashU including being swept in a three-game series in St. Louis last season.
* The last UChicago win in the series came back in 2012 when the Maroons won three of four against the Bears.
