CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago baseball team will hit the road to Minnesota for the first round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament hosted by Gustavus Adolphus. Playing in the postseason for the first time in program history, the Maroons will take on #25 UW-Oshkosh in the first game of the double elimination tournament on Friday at 10 AM.

UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:

* The University of Chicago sits at 26-14 overall and 12-8 in the UAA this season. UChicago is just one win away from breaking the program record for the most wins in a single season.
* The Maroons' last game was over two weeks ago. With the rest, Chicago looks to bounce back after suffering a loss at Concordia-Chicago in the season finale.
* Michael Gladden hit out of his mind during the Maroons last two weeks with a .618 batting average and a .971 slugging percentage. He is 21-34 at the dish with 17 runs scored, 8 extra-base hits, 14 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases in his last 9 games.
* Gladden ranks top-10 in school history in several single-season stat categories this season including 5th in Doubles (16), 6th in Stolen Bases (20), 7th in Runs (47), and 10th in Hits (56).
* Braden Jirovec leads the team in hits this season with 59. He is just nine hits from tying Nick Engel's 2015 record of 68 hits in 2015, and he is just three hits from standing alone in second place all-time for a single season.
* Max Wiesner has had a breakout freshman campaign for the Maroons. His 48 RBIs in 2025 ranks as the 4th-most in school history, just 9 shy of Mark Mosier's single-season record set back in 1997.
* Drew Bryan currently sits at 237 career strikeouts which ranks 2nd all-time in UChicago history, just 59 away from the school record.
* Russell Kwinter is just the eighth pitcher in school history to record seven wins in a single season. He has 7-0 with a 2.97 ERA in his eight starts this season. Kwinter was not only named Rookie of the Year, but was named the Pitcher of the Year for the UAA.
* The Maroons had four total All-UAA Team selections. Along with Kwinter on the first team, Jirovec, Gladden, and Erik Rindner were named to the second team.

#25 UW-OSHKOSH NOTES:

* The Titans come into the tournament at 31-13 on the season and 20-8 in the WIAC. At the end of the WIAC season, 11 Titans collected All-WIAC honors.
* In the WIAC championship, UW-Oshkosh fell to #2 UW-Whitewater in two consecutive games with the first game going to a total of 11 innings.
* Zach Taylor leads the team with a .408 batting average throughout the regular season. In his 174 at bats, Taylor recorded 71 hits, 17 doubles, a triple, and 6 home runs. The graduate student also recorded 38 RBIs.
* Mason Kirchberg has also been a power bat in the lineup for the Titans with 13 doubles, 7 home runs, and a.546 slugging percentage.
* Connor Brinkman has been exceptional out of the bullpen for Oshkosh this season with a 2.47 ERA in 11 appearances.

SERIES HISTORY:

* This will be the second time this season the Maroons and Titans have matched up. Meeting up in Lexington, Kentucky at Transylvania University, UChicago took the win 11-2.
* Only meeting three times in history, the Maroons hold the upper hand with a 2-1 record.
* In March's matchup, senior Hayden Leiderman led the charge, pitching six innings with just two hits allowed and six strikeouts.
