CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago baseball team continues their inaugural run in the NCAA Baseball Tournament with a win-or-go-home game against Beloit College on Saturday morning at 8:30 AM. With a win, the Maroons will play the loser of #14 Gustavus Adolphus and #25 UW-Oshkosh at 3:30 PM.

UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:

* The University of Chicago sits at 26-15 overall and 12-8 in the UAA this season.
* The Maroons are just one win away from breaking the program record for wins, set back in 2018.
* UChicago dropped their inaugural NCAA Tournament game on Friday with a 34-8 loss to UW-Oshkosh. The 34 runs allowed are the most in a game in program history, topping the 31-5 loss to Yale in 1896.
* Russell Kwinter is just the eighth pitcher in school history to record seven wins in a single season. He has 7-0 with a 2.97 ERA in his eight starts this season. Kwinter was named the UAA Pitcher of the Year and the UAA Rookie of the Year.
* Braden Jirovec, Erik Rindner, and Michael Gladden all joined Kwinter on the All-UAA Team after outstanding seasons.
* Gladden has been hitting out of his mind in the past ten games with a .558 batting average and a .907 slugging percentage. He is 24-43 at the dish with 18 runs scored, 9 extra-base hits, 18 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases.
* Jirovec leads the team in hits this season with 61. He is one hit away from being alone in second-place in school history in hits in a season, and he is seven from tying the all-time program record of 68 hits.
* Max Wiesner has had a breakout freshman campaign for the Maroons. His 48 RBIs in 2025 ranks as the 4th-most in school history, just 9 shy of Mark Mosier's single-season record set back in 1997.
* Drew Bryan currently sits at 241 career strikeouts which ranks 2nd all-time in UChicago history, just 55 away from the school record.

BELOIT NOTES:

* Beloit enters the game with a 30-15 record after their 7-5 loss to #14 Gustavus Adolphus on Friday.
* The Buccaneers are playing in their third consecutive NCAA Tournament and their fifth all-time NCAA Tournament, but they are still looking for their first-ever postseason win with an 0-9 record.
* Jack Alport leads the team with a .378 batting average on 70 hits.
* Connor Vogal has been the top power hitter for Beloit with a .369 batting average and 19 extra-base hits on the year.
* Ben Schweit has been the top hurler for the Buccaneers with a 7-3 record on a 2.63 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP, and 83 strikeouts.

SERIES HISTORY:

* UChicago leads the all-time series 27-24 over Beloit.
* The Maroons and the Buccaneers played five times in 2024 with the Maroons only winning one of those five meetings.
* Jack Goldstein has been a Buccaneer killer in his career with a .444 batting average on 20 hits, 6 extra-base hits, 13 RBIs, and 10 runs scored.
