CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago baseball team continues their inaugural run in the NCAA Baseball Tournament with Regional semifinal matchup on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 PM CT against #14 Gustavus Adolphus in an elimination game. With a win, the Maroons will play #25 UW-Oshkosh on Saturday at 11 AM CT in the Regional Finals.

UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:

* The University of Chicago sits at 27-15 overall and 12-8 in the UAA this season.
* The Maroons broke the 2018 program record with their 27th win of the season over Beloit in Saturday's elimination game.
* UChicago dropped their inaugural NCAA Tournament game on Friday with a 34-8 loss to UW-Oshkosh. The 34 runs allowed are the most in a game in program history, topping the 31-5 loss to Yale in 1896.
* The Maroons bounced back with a 17-7 win over Beloit for their first-ever NCAA Tournament victory. The team hit five home runs in the win, the most in a game since 2013, with Richard Lu leading the way with two long balls.
* Russell Kwinter is just the eighth pitcher in school history to record seven wins in a single season. He has 7-0 with a 4.68 ERA in his nine starts this season. Kwinter was named the UAA Pitcher of the Year and the UAA Rookie of the Year.
* Braden Jirovec, Erik Rindner, and Michael Gladden all joined Kwinter on the All-UAA Team after outstanding seasons.
* Gladden has been hitting out of his mind in the past eleven games with a .553 batting average and a .957 slugging percentage. He is 26-47 at the dish with 21 runs scored, 11 extra-base hits, 21 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases.
* Jirovec leads the team in hits this season with 63. He ranks second in program history for hits in a season, and he is five from tying the all-time program record of 68 hits.
* Max Wiesner has had a breakout freshman campaign for the Maroons. His 50 RBIs in 2025 ranks as the 3rd-most in school history, just 7 shy of Mark Mosier's single-season record set back in 1997.
* Drew Bryan currently sits at 247 career strikeouts which ranks 2nd all-time in UChicago history, just 49 away from the school record.

#14 GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS NOTES:

* Gustavus Adolphus enters the second Regional Semifinal at 37-8 on the season after winning the MIAC with a 17-3 record on the year.
* The Gusties are making their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament this season, and they won their first-ever tournament game on Friday against Beloit, 7-5.
* The team fell to #25 UW-Oshkosh in the first Regional Semifinal 15-10 on Saturday afternoon.
* Gustavus Adolphus had won 18 of their last 19 games prior to their Regional Semifinal game against UW-Oshkosh.
* Danny Gavin leads the team with a 0.431 batting average and a 1.152 OPS this season. 
* Brayden Kohls adds a .417 batting average with 53 RBIs and 75 hits on the year.

SERIES HISTORY:

* This would be the first-ever meeting between UChicago and Gustavus Adolphus.
* Both teams are looking for their first-ever Regional Finals appearance in their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
