CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago baseball team continues their inaugural run in the NCAA Baseball Tournament with the Regional Championship against #25 UW-Oshkosh. The Maroons must beat the Titans twice to win the Regional Championship.

UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:

* The University of Chicago sits at 28-15 overall and 12-8 in the UAA this season.
* The Maroons broke the 2018 program record with their 27th win of the season over Beloit in Saturday's elimination game.
* UChicago dropped their inaugural NCAA Tournament game on Friday with a 34-8 loss to UW-Oshkosh. The 34 runs allowed are the most in a game in program history, topping the 31-5 loss to Yale in 1896.
* The Maroons bounced back with a pair of wins in elimination games on Saturday to send Beloit and Gustavus Adolphus home. UChicago won game one 17-7 over Beloit for their first-ever NCAA Tournament victory, and the team added a 9-1 win over Gustavus Adolphus in the second game of the day.
* The team hit five home runs in the win over Beloit, the most in a game since 2013, with Richard Lu leading the way with two long balls.
* Russell Kwinter is just the eighth pitcher in school history to record seven wins in a single season. He has 7-0 with a 4.68 ERA in his nine starts this season. Kwinter was named the UAA Pitcher of the Year and the UAA Rookie of the Year.
* Braden Jirovec, Erik Rindner, and Michael Gladden all joined Kwinter on the All-UAA Team after outstanding seasons.
* Gladden has been hitting out of his mind in the past 12 games with a .520 batting average and a .900 slugging percentage. He is 26-50 at the dish with 23 runs scored, 11 extra-base hits, 21 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases.
* Jirovec leads the team in hits this season with 66. He ranks second in program history for hits in a season, and he is two from tying the all-time program record of 68 hits.
* Max Wiesner has had a breakout freshman campaign for the Maroons. His 52 RBIs in 2025 ranks as the 3rd-most in school history, just 5 shy of Mark Mosier's single-season record set back in 1997.
* Drew Bryan currently sits at 247 career strikeouts which ranks 2nd all-time in UChicago history, just 49 away from the school record.

#25 UW-OSHKOSH NOTES:

* The Titans come into the Regional Finals at 33-13 on the season and 20-8 in the WIAC. At the end of the WIAC season, 11 Titans collected All-WIAC honors.
* In the WIAC championship, UW-Oshkosh fell to #2 UW-Whitewater in two consecutive games with the first game going to a total of 11 innings.
* In the Regional, the Titans won 34-8 against UChicago in the opening game and 15-10 in the semifinals.
* UW-Oshkosh scored the second-most runs in an NCAA Tournament game in school history with 34 on Friday. They also broke the WIAC record with 31 hits in the win.
* Zach Taylor leads the team with a .416 battig average and a 1.120 OPS this season.
* Jake Surane was the hero in Friday's meeting, hitting for the cycle and tallying 9 RBIs.
* UW-Oshkosh is looking for their first Regional title since 2003 when the Titans defeated Ripon and UW-Whitewater (twice) to win the Regional.

SERIES HISTORY:

* This will be the third time this season the Maroons and Titans have matched up.
* The Maroons won 11-2 in Lexington, Kentucky, and the Titans took the second meeting 34-8 over UChicago.
* Only meeting four times in history, these games will serve as the tiebreaker for the all-time series.
