FULL ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT LIST
CHICAGO, Ill. – The University of Chicago placed five student-athletes on the CSC Academic All-District Team, as announced by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday afternoon. The Maroons earning Academic All-District recognition include Ren Brown, Claudia Harnett, Nora Holmes, Marina Semple, and Anna Watson.
Ren Brown earned Academic All-District honors after receiving All-Region recognition in four outdoor events: the 400m Dash, 100m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles, and 4x100m Relay. Brown collected two First Team All-American accolades at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, finishing as the national runner-up in the 100m Hurdles and winning the National Championship in the 400m Hurdles. The Naples, Florida, native concludes her decorated career as a two-time National Champion, 10-time All-American, 13-time All-Region honoree, and 13-time UAA Champion. The senior psychology major also broke six school records across the 60m Dash, 400m Dash, and Distance Medley Relay indoors, as well as the 400m Dash, 100m Hurdles, and 400m Hurdles outdoors.
Claudia Harnett was named to the Academic All-District Team after recording the top time in the Midwest Region in the 1500m Run (4:24.56), earning qualification for the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Harnett earned two First Team All-American honors in 2025, highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the 1500m and a National Championship in the Distance Medley Relay. The Seattle, Washington, native is a six-time UAA Champion and 10-time All-UAA honoree, with nine All-Region selections—four of which came in 2025. The senior economics and psychology double major ends her career holding four school records: the indoor 800m, Mile, Distance Medley Relay, and the outdoor 4x800m Relay.
Nora Holmes added Academic All-District recognition in her junior season after winning her first career National Championship as part of the indoor Distance Medley Relay. A three-time All-American, Holmes is also a three-time UAA Champion and five-time All-UAA honoree. The West Hartford, Connecticut, native helped lead UChicago to an NCAA record in the DMR and currently holds school records in the indoor Distance Medley Relay and the outdoor 4x800m Relay.
Marina Semple earned Academic All-District distinction following an All-Region performance in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.90 meters, which ranked second in the Midwest Region. The junior from Abingdon, United Kingdom, earned All-American honors in both the indoor and outdoor Long Jump, placing seventh indoors and 13th outdoors. A six-time All-UAA honoree and five-time All-Region selection, Semple also claimed the 2024 UAA Outdoor Championship in the Long Jump.
Anna Watson rounded out UChicago's Academic All-District selections after earning All-Region honors in the 5,000m Run with a time of 16:33.53—the fastest in the Midwest Region. The Marina, California, native earned her first career All-American honor with a sixth-place finish in the event at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, marking her second Nationals appearance. The senior environmental science major is a two-time All-Region and two-time All-UAA honoree, and she concludes her career ranked top-four in program history in the indoor 3,000m, outdoor 5,000m, and outdoor 4x800m Relay.
CSC Academic All-District Team honorees are selected by the national organization based on a combination of academic and athletic achievements. Nominees must maintain a GPA above 3.50 and rank in the top 50 of their respective region in an individual event in cross country, indoor track & field, or outdoor track & field. All five UChicago honorees have advanced to the Academic All-America ballot, with final selections to be announced on Tuesday, July 15.
