CHICAGO, Ill. -- With less than three months until the start of the 2025–26 UChicago men's basketball season, it's time to break down the upcoming slate. The full schedule can be viewed
HERE.
The UChicago season tips off on the weekend of November 15 and 16 as the Maroons welcome three top-level programs to Hyde Park for the annual Midway Classic. UChicago will take on UC-Santa Cruz on Saturday and Trinity (TX) on Sunday with UAA foe Emory battling the same teams on the opposite days. The women's basketball team will also host Tufts and Marian (WI) for three other games in the Midway Classic.
The Maroons tip off the season on the weekend of November 15–16 by hosting three top-tier programs for the annual Midway Classic. UChicago will face UC Santa Cruz on Saturday and Trinity (TX) on Sunday, while UAA rival Emory will take on those same opponents on opposite days. The women's basketball team will also be in action during the Midway Classic, hosting Tufts and Marian (WI) for three additional games.
Two more non-conference games are on the home schedule, with Kalamazoo visiting on December 7 and Wheaton (IL) coming to Ratner on January 3 for the final non-conference contest of the season.
The Maroons will also compete in two Invitational weekends. First, they travel to WashU on November 29–30 to face Rhodes and Colorado College. Later, the team heads to Puerto Rico the week before Christmas for two games in San Juan. Opponents will be announced at a later date, with the pool including Catholic, Illinois Tech, Johns Hopkins, and Susquehanna.
Non-conference road play features only three true away games: Illinois Wesleyan (Nov. 19), Edgewood (Nov. 22), and Lake Forest (Dec. 3).
University Athletic Association play begins January 10 at home against WashU. The Maroons then head out for their first Friday–Sunday conference weekend at Case Western and Carnegie Mellon (Jan. 16–18).
UChicago will then enjoy a four-game homestand from January 23 to February 1, hosting Brandeis, NYU, Rochester, and Emory. After a two-game road trip to Rochester and Emory, the Maroons will play their final home weekend February 13–15 against Case Western and Carnegie Mellon. The season concludes with three straight road games at Brandeis, NYU, and WashU.
UChicago's schedule includes eight games against 2024–25 NCAA Division III Tournament teams. NYU, last season's national runner-up, headlines the group, while WashU reached the Final Four and Emory advanced to the Elite Eight. Illinois Wesleyan and Catholic are the lone non-conference opponents to qualify for the NCAA Tournament after the Cardinals reached the Elite Eight and the Titans reached the Sweet 16. All in all, the Maroons will play seven games against four of the final eight teams remaining in last season's NCAA Tournament.
The Maroons are aiming for a return to the NCAA Tournament after last season's breakthrough — their first appearance since 2007–08. UChicago finished 18–8 overall and placed third in the UAA at 9–5 before falling to Saint John's (MN) 72–71 in the opening round.
Fans can catch the Maroons in action as the 2025–26 home campaign tips off with the Midway Classic on November 15–16 at Ratner Athletic Center.
