ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The University of Chicago women's tennis team opened the 2025 ITA Central Regional Tournament on Friday afternoon with the opening rounds of both the singles and doubles draws. The Maroons dominated on day 1 with a 4-1 record in doubles and a 7-0 record in singles to start the invitational.

In doubles play, Tina Kintiroglou and Anika Paul set the pace for the Maroons, dominating in both of their matches with an 8-0 win over Westminster (MO) and an 8-4 win over Case Western. The #3 seeded team of Charlotte Klein and Oliwia Mikos also took down Case Western 8-1, and the #5 seeded team of Lauren Khou and Lily Zawaneh took down North Central (IL) 8-0 to put three UChicago doubles teams in the final 16.

In singles play, the top seed Clara Zou and #9 seed Isabelle Chong opened off the draw with a pair of 6-0, 6-0 victories over Trine and Case Western respectively to advance to the Round of 32.

Sarena Biria added a 6-0, 6-1 win over Monmouth, and Kintiroglou and Zawaneh each brought home the opening round win, dropping just three games each.

Mikos pulled out a 6-3, 6-2 singles win over Kenyon, and Paul added a win in the closest match of the day for the Maroons with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Case Western to clinch a perfect 7-0 day in singles for UChicago.

All eight Maroons will return to the courts on Saturday in St. Louis for two more doubles matches and two more singles matches on the second day of the four-day invitational.
