Men's Soccer Visits Wheaton (IL) on Wednesday for Midweek Matchup

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago men's soccer team hits the road again on Wednesday evening for a non-conference matchup at Wheaton College (IL). * The Maroons enter Wednesday with a 1–1–1 record after earning their first win of the season, a 1–0 victory over MSOE on Saturday.
* 
UChicago previously fell 2–1 to #19 Gustavus Adolphus and battled to a 0–0 draw with (RV) St. Olaf.
* 
The Maroons have recorded back-to-back clean sheets and carry a streak of 243 consecutive shutout minutes into the Wheaton (IL) matchup.
* 
Alex Gomas netted the first UChicago goal of 2025 off an assist from Chase Perry in the loss to #19 Gustavus Adolphus.
* 
Evan Kanellos converted a penalty kick in the 77th minute to lift the Maroons to victory over MSOE.
* 
Goalkeeper Ali Alamery made 10 saves in the draw with St. Olaf — the most by a UChicago keeper since 2012 — on his way to his first career shutout.

Alamery became the first Maroon goalkeeper since Will Boyes (Oct. 2023) to post consecutive clean sheets. He and Ethan Peet are the only players to log every minute of the season so far.

* Wheaton (IL) carries a 2–0–2 record into Wednesday's contest.

The Thunder most recently tied Puget Sound 2–2, with Chris Konieczny netting the equalizer in the 66th minute.
* 
Wheaton (IL) has scored multiple goals in all four games this season, highlighted by a four-goal outburst in a win over Chapman.
* 
Luke Vander Kolk leads the Thunder offense with three goals and two assists in 2025.
* 
Asher Eshw and Kyle Johnson have also scored multiple goals apiece.
* 
Goalkeeper Jack Krahel owns 13 saves with a 65.0% save percentage and a 1.75 goals-against average.

Wheaton (IL) has not started a season unbeaten through five games since 2005. The Thunder will attempt to continue that streak Wednesday against UChicago.
