#2 Men's Basketball Hosts Brandeis in Friday Night UAA Action

CHICAGO -- The 2nd-ranked University of Chicago men's basketball team returns to their home gym this weekend for a Friday night showdown with Brandeis University.

#2 UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:

* UChicago enters the game with a 13-1 record on the season and wins in 11 consecutive games. Their 11-game winning streak is the longest by the Maroons since they won 13 consecutive games from Nov. 15 to Jan. 24 in 2015-16.
* UChicago currently sits at #2 in the country in the latest D3hoops.com Top-25 poll. This is the highest the Maroons have been ranked since February 26, 2001 (#1). This just the second time the Maroons have been ranked in the top 2.
* The Maroons are 3-0 in the UAA for the first time since 2018-19. With a win on Friday, they will improve to 4-0 in UAA play for the first time since their 5-0 start in 2015-16.
* Shane Regan and Nick Roper became the first two Preseason All-Americans in UChicago history this season. The duo was also just named to the Bevo Francis Top-100 Watch List for the best Small College basketball player in the country.
* Regan leads the team with 18.2 points per game on 51.4% shooting, while adding 4.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.
* Roper has also added 15.3 points with 7.6 rebounds while shooting over 55.7% from the floor. He grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds while scoring 25 points in the win over Wheaton.
* Eamonn Kenah joins the graduate student duo in scoring in double figures with 12.9 points per game with 48% shooting from long range on 36 made triples this season.
* Joe Berry and Kenah are both chasing the 1,000-point threshold for UChicago. Berry is 30 points away from the 1,000-point club, while Kenah sits 74 points away.
* After battling Brandeis on Friday night, the Maroons will host New York University on Sunday afternoon.

BRANDEIS UNIVERSITY NOTES:

* Brandeis comes into UAA play with a 9-5 record overall on the season and a 2-1 record in UAA play.
* The Judges have won seven of their last eight games with the lone loss coming to #3 Emory last weekend.
* Brandeis is coming off an 87-70 win over Rochester on Sunday afternoon.
* Elias Rodl leads the Judges with 21.6 points and 7.9 rebounds per game on the season.
* Rodl is shooting 49% from the floor and 45% from long range on the year.
* Alex Zakheim joins Rodl in the scoring column with 18.4 points per game on 53% shooting from the floor.
* Zakheim also leads the Judges with 56 assists and 23 steals.
* Following their game with the Maroons, the Judges will travel to St. Louis for a matchup with #18 WashU, their third top-25 showdown in four games.

SERIES HISTORY:

* UChicago leads the all-time series 40-33 over Brandeis.
* The Maroons have won three of the past four games, including a season sweep last season.
* Prior to the win in Chicago last season, the Judges had won five consecutive games in Chicago against the Maroons.
* Joe Berry is averaging 13.3 points per game while shooting 52% from the floor in his career against the Judges.
* Daniel Cochran averaged 14.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in 2024-25 in the two meetings with Brandeis.
