CHICAGO -- The 17th-ranked University of Chicago women's basketball team returns to its home court on Friday evening for another UAA showdown with Brandeis. The Maroons will be holding the WAA Slam Dunk promotion at the game with several top-level raffle items.
#17 UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:
* UChicago heads into Sunday with an 9-3 overall record and a 1-1 record in UAA play. The Maroons outscored Case Western Reserve 22-7 in the final 10:05 of the game on Friday night, including scoring the final eight points of the game, en route to a 52-44 win.
* The Maroons climbed to #17 in the D3hoops.com Top-25 poll and #19 in the WBCA Top-25 poll after winning back-to-back games over Case Western and Carnegie Mellon.
* UChicago has won six of their last seven games with the lone loss coming to #14 WashU in the UAA opener.
* In December, the Maroons won back-to-back games over top-25 opponents (#25 Calvin and #13 Illinois) for the first time since 2019. The road win over Calvin was also the first top-25 road win for the Maroons since they took down #14 Wheaton (IL) on November 20, 2019.
* All three of the UChicago losses this season have come to top-25 teams, including an overtime loss to #3 UW-Oshkosh, on the road at #24 Carroll (WI), and at home to #8 WashU to put the Maroons at 2-3 against top-25 opponents this season.
* The Maroons tallied a school record 17 blocks in the win over Case Western on Friday. Workman (4), Samuda (3), Gross (3), and Clark (3) all joined the block party in the win.

Annabelle Spotts leads the team with 11.8 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game on the season while shooting 44% from the floor and 33% from long range.

Chris Sanders and
Bri Simpson are also averaging close to double figures with 10.5 and 9.6 points per game on the year. Sanders also leads the team defensively with 1.8 steals per game, while Simpson is also adding 1.5 steals per game.

Kasi Samuda leads the team with 8.6 rebounds per game while also adding 5.8 points per game.
* Following Friday's game, the Maroons will host the top-ranked team in the country as they host #1 NYU on Sunday afternoon at 12 PM.
(RV) BRANDEIS UNIVERSITY NOTES:
* Brandeis enters the weekend with an 11-3 weekend overall and a 1-2 record in UAA play.
* The Judges took down #9 Emory for their lone UAA win of the season last Friday.
* Brandeis will play four ranked teams in five games to start UAA play, including their matchups with #17 UChicago and #15 WashU this weekend.
* Abby Kennedy leads the Judges with 18.2 points per game on the season.
* Katherine Vaughan and Sofia Berisha are also adding double figures with 10.3 and 10.0 points per game.
* Vaughan also leads the team with 7.2 rebounds per game and a 52.7% field goal percentage.
* Claire Candela leads the three-point shooting attack for the Judges with a 44.4% clip on the year.
* Following their game with #17 UChicago, Brandeis will bus to St. Louis for another top-25 showdown with #15 WashU.
SERIES HISTORY:
* The Maroons lead the all-time series 49-23 over Brandeis.
* UChicago had its 20-game win streak over Brandeis snapped last season in a 72-66 loss to the Judges in Chicago last season.
* The Maroons split last year's meetings with a 69-55 win in Waltham one week later.
* The home loss to Brandeis last season was the first loss in Chicago against the Judges since the 57-48 defeat in 2007.
