CHICAGO -- The 6th-ranked University of Chicago men's basketball team returns to action on Saturday as the Maroons host #8 WashU in the opening game of the 2026 UAA season. The game will tip off at 1 PM CT at the Ratner Athletic Center.
#6 UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:
* The University of Chicago enters the game with an 10-1 record on the season and wins in eight consecutive games.
* Their eight-game winning streak is the longest by the Maroons since they won 10 consecutive games from January 17 to February 16 in 2003.
* This game marks the first time that the Maroons have played in a game featuring two top-8 teams since #3 UChicago defeated #4 WashU 84-70 in the regular season finale in 2001 in Henry Crown Fieldhouse.
* UChicago currently sits at #4 in the country in the latest D3hoops.com Top-25 poll. This is the highest the Maroons have been ranked since the 2001 preseason poll when they opened the season at #3 in the country.
* The Maroons took down Kalamazoo 103-64 for their largest win since taking down Caltech 88-48 in 2023. The 103 points scored against the Hornets are the most scored in a single game since their 114-107 win over Emory in 2019.
* Earlier this season, the Maroons broke the single-game school record with 18 made threes on 40 attempts in their win over Trinity (TX).

Shane Regan earned 1st-Team honors and
Nick Roper added 2nd-Team honors to became the first two Preseason All-Americans in UChicago history this season.
* Regan leads the team with 17.8 points per game on 51.5% shooting, while adding 3.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
* Roper has also added 15.7 points with 8.0 rebounds while shooting over 55% from the floor. He grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds while scoring 25 points in the win over Wheaton.

Eamonn Kenah joins the graduate student duo in scoring in double figures with 12.6 points per game with 48% shooting from long range on 26 made triples this season.

* After battling #8 WashU in the UAA opener, the Maroons will hit the road for their first away UAA weekend of the year as #4 UChicago battles Case Western Reserve on Friday and Carnegie Mellon on Sunday.
#8 WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY IN ST. LOUIS NOTES:
* #8 WashU comes into UAA play with a 10-1 record on the season and ranked as the #8 team in the nation.
* The Bears are coming off a sweep at the Glenn Van Wieren Classic at Hope College with a 72-65 win over Hope and a 94-68 win over Olivet.
* The lone loss this season for WashU came on their home floor against the Illinois Wesleyan Titans.
* Connor May leads the Bears with 17.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game on the season.
* Anthony Przybilla and Ryan Cohen are also averaging double figures with 14.1 and 11.5 points per game.
* Przybilla is shooting 63% from the floor, and Cohen has made 32 triples on 48% shooting from long range.
* As a team, the Bears rank 2nd in NCAA Division III in field goal percentage, making 51.9% of their shots.
* WashU also leads the UAA and ranks top-5 in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (39.6%) and rebounding margin (+12.5).
* Following their game with the Maroons, the Bears will return to the road for their first UAA road weekend of the year as they travel to Case Western and Carnegie Mellon.
SERIES HISTORY:
* WashU leads the all-time series 58-27 over UChicago.
* The Maroons swept the Bears in 2025 with a 76-68 win in Chicago and a 71-66 win in St. Louis. This marked the first time the Maroons swept the Bears in a season since 2011.
* UChicago is looking for their first three-game win streak over WashU since the 1999 and 2000 seasons.
