#6 Men's Basketball Hosts #1 Emory in Crucial UAA Matchup

CHICAGO -- The 6th-ranked University of Chicago men's basketball team returns to the Ratner Athletic Center on Sunday afternoon for a top-6 showdown with #1 Emory.

#6 UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:

* UChicago enters the game with a 15-2 record on the season and 5-1 in the UAA. The Maroons have won 12 of their last 13 games after picking up the 72-63 win over Rochester on Friday.
* UChicago currently sits at #6 in the country in the latest D3hoops.com Top-25 poll. The Maroons fell to #6 from #2 following their loss to NYU on Sunday afternoon.
* Shane Regan and Nick Roper became the first two Preseason All-Americans in UChicago history this season. The duo was also just named to the Bevo Francis Top-100 Watch List for the best Small College basketball player in the country.
* Regan leads the team with 17.7 points per game on 51.2% shooting, while adding 4.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.
* Roper has also added 14.5 points with 7.7 rebounds while shooting over 55.8% from the floor. He grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds while scoring 25 points in the win over Wheaton.
* Eamonn Kenah joins the graduate student duo in scoring in double figures with 11.8 points per game with 47% shooting from long range on 41 made triples this season.
* Joe Berry and Kenah are both chasing the 1,000-point threshold for UChicago. Berry is 4 points away from the 1,000-point club, while Kenah sits 53 points away.
* Head Coach Mike McGrath has compiled a career record of 372-262, and he ranks top 40 in NCAA DIII in active wins.
* After battling #1 Emory on Sunday night, the Maroons will return to the road for a return trip to Rochester and #1 Emory.

#1 EMORY UNIVERSITY NOTES:

* Emory comes into the weekend with a 14-2 record overall and a 4-1 record in UAA play.
* The Eagles had their 13-game winning streak snapped on Friday with an 89-74 loss to (RV) WashU.
* Ben Pearce leads the UAA in Assists (89), FT% (90.8%), and Points/Game (23.0) this season.
* Pearce has also hit a team-high 39 triples with a 39.8% shooting percentage from long range.
* Mario Awasum holds down the paint inside for the Eagles with a team-high 8.9 rebounds per game and a 58.5% shooting percentage.
* Following their game with the Maroons, the Eagles will return home as they host the return trip for (RV) WashU and #6 UChicago.

SERIES HISTORY:

* UChicago leads the all-time series 41-34 over Emory.
* The Maroons have a 24-14 advantage all-time in Chicago, but the Eagles got the 77-72 win last season.
* UChicago is looking for their first win in Chicago against Emory since their 84-79 win in 2022.
