CHICAGO -- University of Chicago graduate student Shane Regan was named the UAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the University Athletic Association on Monday afternoon.
Regan was unbelievable in Sunday's win over #1 Emory, tallying 24 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds as he helped lead the Maroons to just their second win in program history over the #1 team in the country.
Overall for the week, the Larchmont, New York native averaged 19.5 points, 6 rebounds, and 5.5 assists to help UChicago improve to 6-1 in UAA play.
Regan, the Management master's student, also reached the 1,500 career point mark on Sunday in the win over #1 Emory, and he currently ranks top-15 among all active Division III players in career points scored.
Shane joins Eamonn Kenah as the two Maroons to earn UAA Athlete of the Week honors. The award is the fifth of his career after earning four NESCAC Player of the Week awards last season.
The 6th-ranked University of Chicago men's basketball team hits the road this weekend for the return trip against Rochester and #1 Emory on Friday and Sunday.
