Spencer Emerson enters his second season as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach on the Maroon football coaching staff in 2023.

The 2022 Maroon offense rolled up 37.3 points per game, as running back Nicholas D'Ambrose ranked among the best rushers in the nation. D'Ambrose produced the seventh-most rushing yards in school history (1,095 yards) while ranking second nationally in scoring per game (14.2 PPG), fifth in rushing yards per game (136.9 YPG), seventh in rushing touchdowns (17), 11th in total touchdowns (19), 12th in yards per carry (6.6) and 13th in all-purpose yards per game (155.4 YPG). The rushing offense was 17th in NCAA Division III at 225.4 yards per game.

Emerson came to Hyde Park after spending the past two years as an assistant coach at Georgetown University. He coached the running backs position group while also serving as the video coordinator. Emerson has previous experience in the NCAA Division III realm as well. He held three roles on staff at Bates College, including Cornerbacks Coach (2016-17), Wide Receivers Coach (2020) and Director of Football Operations (2020).

Emerson's offensive acumen was also on display during his tenure as varsity head coach at Poland Regional High School in Poland, Maine (2017-20). With Emerson calling offensive plays, the Knights set new school records in passing yards, pass completions, passing percentage, total touchdowns, points scored and total yards in the 2018 season. They also broke the state record for passing in Class D.

As a collegian, Emerson played quarterback at Becker College for one season before transferring to the University of Maine. He joined the Maine coaching staff as an undergraduate football assistant with film, operations and recruiting responsibilities.

Emerson graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Maine in 2016. He also earned his master's degree in athletic administration from Southern New Hampshire University in 2022.
