Rachael Grotts enters her sixth year as an Athletic Trainer at the University of Chicago in the 2025-26 academic year.

She is the primary athletic trainer for women’s soccer, men’s basketball, and women’s lacrosse.
Grotts graduated from Carroll University in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. As a part of her senior capstone, she had an internship position at Northwestern University with their football program. She then went on to graduate from Illinois State University in 2020 with a master’s degree in Kinesiology and Recreation with a concentration in Post Professional Athletic Training. While at Illinois State, she worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with Illinois Wesleyan Football, Men’s Basketball, and Baseball programs, while performing research concerning the use of functional movement screening with corrective exercise implementation to reduce injury rates in basketball athletes.

Grotts currently serves as a district representative on the National Athletic Trainers Association Career Advancement Committee, whose goal is to support and address issues affecting athletic trainers as they advance in their careers.

Grotts is also a Certified Nutrition Coach through NASM and helps to provide nutrition counseling, education, and programming to the student athletes at UChicago. Â
