Thom Guzzi enters his 14th year as the Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach at the University of Chicago in the 2025-26 academic year.

The 2022 campaign featured a 20-13 season record and a return to the NCAA Division III Championship for the 11th time since 2010, with the Maroons advancing to the Second Round. 

The 2021 Maroons were nationally ranked throughout the fall season and posted a 17-10 overall record. After playing one of the toughest schedules in the nation, UChicago qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship for the 10th time since 2010. McPartland and Assistant Coach Thom Guzi also received the University Athletic Association (UAA) Co-Coaching Staff of the Year award.

The historic 2019 season featured numerous program firsts for the Maroons. UChicago was ranked No. 1 in the national coaches poll during the regular season, set a new school record for winning percentage (.875), won 23 matches in-a-row and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Championship. Three Maroons were named All-Americans - setter Emma Griffith (1st Team), middle hitter Madison Pearson (Third Team) and outside hitter Anne Marie Stifter (H.M.). UChicago ranked highly in the nation in kills per set (9th), digs per set (12th) and assists per set (13th).

UChicago was honored as 2019 UAA Coaching Staff of the Year after the Maroons posted a perfect 7-0 Round Robin record and runner-up finish in the UAA Championship.

UChicago set a new school record for winning percentage in 2018, going 29-5 on the year (.853) and reaching the second round of the NCAA postseason. Emma Griffith, Sarah Muisenga and Madison Pearson were all selected as AVCA Honorable Menton All-Americans. Four Maroons were honored on the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) teams. At season's end, UChicago ranked 11th in hitting percentage (.244), while Griffith's 1,367 assists were second most in the nation.

The 2017 Maroons reached the NCAA Tournament for the seventh time. Four players were named All-University Athletic Association (UAA) and two were selected All-Region.

In 2016, the Maroons went 7-0 to start conference play for the first time in program history. Dingman and her assistants were named University Athletic Association (UAA) Coaching Staff of the Year.

In 2014, the Maroons made their fifth-straight NCAA Division III Championship appearance. UChicago was named UAA Co-Coaching Staff of the Year, and outside hitter Maren Loe was named UAA Most Valuable Player.

Guzi graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a bachelors degree of business administration, double majoring in accounting and finance. Guzi has also received a masters of science in accounting forensics from Roosevelt University. He was a three-time MIVA All-Conference Selection and a NIRSA First Team All American in 2008. While at Loyola, he was the men's and women's club volleyball head coach and team captain for the men's squad. Guzi is currently a coach with the Chicago Elite Volleyball Club. 

Guzi is a CPA and works as an Audit Senior Manager with Miller Cooper & Co., Ltd.
