- Chicago led 2-1 at the conclusion of doubles. After the Bears won the day's first match at No. 2, sophomores Krishna Ravella (Hinsdale, Ill./ Central) and Zsolt Szabo (Budapest, Hungary/ Brittanica International) evened the match with an 8-5 win at No. 3.
- Seniors Troy Brinker (Granger, Ind./ Penn) and Jan Stefanski (Falls Church, Va./ Washington International) gave the Maroons the lead in the match with an 8-6 decision at No. 1 doubles.
- Washington regained the lead, 3-2, with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles.
- The Maroons rallied to tie the match 4-4 following wins by Stefanski at No. 2 and freshman Deepak Sabada (Saratoga, Calif./ Saratoga) at No. 6.
- Washington won the deciding match at No. 5 singles as Bryan Haywood defeated Szabo 2-6, 7-6 (5), 6-1.
- With its third straight loss, Chicago fell to 4-3 on the season.
- Washington improved to 3-0.
