OSKHOSH, Wis. -- In a pair of pitchers' duels Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, the University of Chicago softball team came up on the short end twice, losing to the Titans 2-0 and 1-0.
Game 1 Summary & Highlights
- UW-Oshkosh P Courtney Wautier (9-3) held the Maroons to three hits while walking one and fanning five as the Titans took Saturday's opener 2-0.
- The Titans scored both of their runs in the bottom of the third inning. After the first run came in on a fielder's choice, LF Hillary Trebiatowski delivered an RBI triple.
- Junior P Kim Cygan (Lake Barrington, Ill./ Barrington) took the loss (8-2) for Chicago despite not being charged with an earned run. She allowed five hits without a walk and struck out six.
Game 2 Summary & Highlights
- Julia Sweeney (4-4) tossed a two-hitter as the Titans (15-9) completed the doubleheader sweep with a 1-0 win in the nightcap. Sweeney did not allow a base on balls while recording three strikeouts.
- RF Emily Mallek's solo home run in the third inning accounted for the game's only run.
- Senior P Sarah Neuhaus (Berkeley, Calif./ Berkeley) (pictured) went the distance for the Maroons. Neuhaus (5-4) allowed seven hits without a walk while striking out two.
Notes
- Cygan's consecutive scoreless innings streak came to an end at 21.1 in Saturday's opener.
- Chicago (15-7) lost back-to-back games for the first time this season and dropped both halves of a doubleheader for the first time since May 1, 2010.
