Box Score ALMA, Mich. -- Trine University pitcher Andi Gasco limited the University of Chicago to three hits as the Thunder defeated the Maroons 6-1 on the second day of the 2012 NCAA Division III Softball Championship Regional Friday at Alma College.
With the loss, the fourth-seeded Maroons (25-10) move into the consolation bracket where they will face No. 6 seed Denison University Saturday at 10 a.m. If the Maroons win, they would play again Saturday at 4 p.m. A loss would end their season.
Summary & Highlights
- RF Carly Searles gave top-seeded Trine (39-8) an early 1-0 lead with a run-scoring triple in the top of the third inning.
- Gasco led off the fourth inning with a solo home run. An RBI double from DH Tori Cuebas and a sacrifice fly off the bat of LF Leah Hall put the Thunder on top 4-0.
- Trine added a pair of runs in the fifth when 1B Lauren Harris delivered a two-run single.

- The first of four Chicago hurlers, senior Sarah Neuhaus (Berkeley, Calif./ Berkeley) took the loss (8-5). She allowed four hits and three runs (two earned) over 4.1 innings of work.
