EVANSTON, Ill. -- The University of Chicago wrestling team began its competitive season with dual matches versus Northwestern University and Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday. The Maroons lost to the No. 20-ranked Wildcats 38-0 and the Ducks 22-9.

UChicago picked up three wins in its match against Stevens Tech. Sophomore Gabe Martinez won a 4-3 decision at 125 pounds. Freshman Charlie Banszak won his first collegiate match 8-2 at 141 pounds. Senior Jeff Tyburski finished the day with a 3-1 decision win at heavyweight.
