LISLE, Ill. – The University of Chicago volleyball team closed out the Benedictine University Eagle Classic with a 3-2 win over Dominican University and a 3-0 sweep of Elmhurst College on Saturday.

The Maroons improved to 24-11 on the year and finished in second place out of eight teams. Junior outside hitter Maren Loe and senior libero Eirene Kim were both named to the All-Tournament Team.

UChicago 3, Dominican 2 (25-20, 25-19, 20-25, 14-25, 18-16)

The Maroons came out fast to start the day, taking over midway through the first and second sets to grab a 2-0 advantage. However, Dominican rebounded by winning the third and fourth sets to set up the decisive fifth. The Maroons came out the victors by seizing the last two points, 18-16.

Loe broke her own school record with 30 kills. Her previous record was 29 kills versus Emory University on Oct. 19. Junior setter Ragine Graves collected 52 assists, which marks the third time this year that she has broken the 50-assist barrier. Senior outside hitter Morgan Barry and Kim registered 21 digs and 27 digs, respectively.

UChicago hit for a .184 attack percentage (62 kills, 24 errors, 206 attempts). The team served up eight aces and made five blocks. The Stars posted a .236 attack percentage (70 kills, 21 errors, 208 attempts).

UChicago 3, Elmhurst 0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-19)

UChicago came out flying versus No. 16-ranked Elmhurst. The Maroons scored 14 kills with only one error to blast through the first set 25-18. The momentum carried over into the second and third sets as well, as UChicago closed the sweep by identical 25-19 scores.  

The Maroons posted an efficient .315 attack percentage – their third-highest mark of the season. Graves provided three of the team's seven aces. The Bluejays hit .214 as a unit.
