Box Score CHICAGO – In its season-opening match on Tuesday, the University of Chicago volleyball team flew past Concordia (Wis.) University in short order with a 3-0 victory.
The Maroons improved to 1-0 and the Falcons dropped to 0-1.

The home team was in control from the opening point and earned the sweep in less than an hour. UChicago's offense came out swinging in the first set with a .448 hitting percentage, eventually ending up with a .390 team hitting percentage – its highest since Sept. 27, 2014 versus Concordia University Chicago (.487).
The Maroon defense was also on point and covered the floor with aplomb. The Falcons ended up with more errors (20) than kills (18) in the match, with UChicago notching four team blocks and 44 digs.
UChicago biggest lead in the first set came at 19-5, and a 9-1 run in the second set kept the team in the driver's seat.
Senior outside hitter Maren Loe paced the team with 14 kills. Sophomore middle blocker Taylor David posted a very efficient scoring line of 12 kills with one error on 18 attempts. Senior setter Ragine Graves handed out 30 assists and collected a team-best 13 digs.
