Box Score 2 Rochester, N.Y. – University of Chicago's women's volleyball defeated Carnegie Mellon and fell to No. 4 Washington University (Mo.) to conclude its day at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin.
The Maroons finished the UAA Round Robin slate with a 5-2 record and currently sit 14-10 overall.
WashU
UChicago fell in straight sets to WashU by scores of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-22, respectively. Cami Cox posted nine kills at a blistering .471 clip to lead the offensive effort. Natalie Schildt added six kills and three digs.
Julia Craig led the defensive effort with 10 digs. The Maroons were outpaced by a high-powered Bears attack which hit .298 overall and had 15 or more kills in all three sets.
Carnegie Mellon
In UChicago's final regular season UAA contest, the Maroons garnered a four-set victory over Carnegie Mellon by scores of 25-18, 25-23, 20-25 and 25-23, respectively. Schildt led the attack with 13 kills and Maggie McInerney posted 12. Ellie Alden had a stadnout performance in the middle with eight kills and only one error, hitting .368.
Maya Patel was excellent in facilitating the offense which had 51 kills, dishing out 45 assists and adding 13 digs. Craig led with 23 digs and added two assists.
UChicago will have four matches to tune up for the UAA Championships, beginning with a date with Millikin at home on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.
