CHICAGO – University of Chicago's women's volleyball program defeated Carthage College in five sets on Thursday evening in non-conference action.

UChicago started slowly, falling in the opening two frames, but stormed back to take the final three sets in convincing fashion to claim the five-set victory. The Maroons pulled off the reverse sweep with wins of 25-17, 25-14 and 15-8, respectively, in sets three, four and five.

Maggie McInerney led the attack with 18 kills, posting a .245 attack percentage while adding a team-high 23 digs. Natalie Schildt tacked on 13 kills and Ellie Alden racked up 10. Setters Maya Patel and Maddie Ryan matched each other with 29 assists apiece. Julia Craig anchored the Maroon backline with 17 digs.

UChicago takes on Elmhurst and UW-Eau Claire on Saturday, Oct. 8, beginning at 10 a.m.
